Done!!

It's official! The crates are packed, sealed (with goop even), in storage and we are out of our house!! Now to organize all the stuff we're going to take camping... plus the excrutiatingly detailed list of the contents of our crates that we have to enter into a spreadsheet... uugghh does it ever end??
Aidan shed a few tears that our house was empty and that we aren't going to live in it anymore...
The others are just excited that we get to sleep at Aunty Pearl and Uncle Chris's house.
Time to have a break now....

Tornado!

Today a bevy of ladies invaded our home like a tornado and presto, it was organized and... clean!! (I don't think it has been clean for a couple weeks now...) Wow!! Thanks ladies (you know who you are) we really, really appreciate your time and effort. Also thanks to the ladies who took care of our kids for us so that so much could be more effortlessy accomplished.
Crate one is now packed and sealed up and in storage until 2 months before we are done language school! Crate two will be packed up tomorrow.

Still Packing...

We're really looking forward to when this whole packing thing is done. Today Hugo packed up one of our (hopefully only) 2 crates.

Today we did some more purging and good-byeing. This is really starting to feel like we're actually moving across the world!? Sometimes it's really hard to believe.

The kids are a bit cranky at times as their lives, and the house, are being turned upside down and nothing is staying the same. But now they're just excited because tomorrow they get to go to Aunt Mary's for a sleepover! At this moment that's a lot more important than the fact that we're moving ourselves and most of our earthly pocessions to the other side of the world. Sometimes we just have to focus on the little simple things in life and be thankful for them instead of always looking at the big and the fabulous.

Good-bye Mode...

Well, we are now into full-fledged good-bye mode. Had a nice dinner out tonight with our closest friends Pearl and Chris. It was sure nice to spend a few uninterrupted hours with them. Sad to say good-bye though. We are very thankful for the modern convenience of email so we know that it will be easy to keep in touch.
Today was another day of finishing things. Did a major purge and dropped off so much stuff at the local thrift shop that they put out a sign that read: "We are no longer accepting donations today, we are full!" (I don't even want to think about how much stuff I dropped off that I had actually purchased at said thrift shop to begin with...)
While I was doing that, Marc and Mikah were playing in the kiddie pool in the backyard. Hugo was at home puttering around finishing up some final trim. At one point we went to check on them and there was Marc wearing nothing but yellow rain boots. When asked if he would like to have his bathing suit on again he replied, "No!" Too funny!! Oh the freedom of the very young!!

Almost There...

June 25, 2006
Today was our last Sunday in Aldergrove Can Ref Church. Said good bye to lots of people. As I walked to church it felt a little unreal that this was the last time I would be doing this for a very long time. It's still hard to believe that we are leaving beautiful B.C. behind for the tropics of Indonesia.
Only a few more days in this house before we move into Chris and Pearl's place. Then Saturday it's off to Vernon. The house looks like a bomb went off inside. We spent saturday having a garage sale and then an open house good-bye and then a good-bye barbeque. So we spent virtually no time inside the house at all.
Today I asked the kids what made them happy and without hesitation, Aidan said,"Food." Christiaan didn't know what made him happy and Marc agreed that playing with Daddy's tools made him happy. Mikah was too busy trying out the excercises in a book called "Back Talk, an owners manual for backs" that one of the kids "stole" from the doctors office...
Tomorrow it's more shopping and packing, yippee!!
