Fun in Holland

Well, we're now four days into our four week trip to Holland. We've had some fun already. On Monday I went shopping with Mom and experienced what it was like to shop in Holland. A lot of little containers... People here don't have the behemoth fridges and freezers that we in North America have. So they shop more often in smaller quantities. Tuesday Mom took Mikah, Christiaan and I to the market in downtown Enschede. It was a real cross-cultural experience, especially when we had a bite to eat at McDonalds.... The fresh fish, fruit, veggies, cheese and such stands are neat to check out with the sellers calling out to shoppers to come and buy. We also took public transportation to get there. It is very efficient here and it is quite easy to get around without a car. In the afternoons we went to the campground where mom and dad are staying and went for a swim in the pool there. Very refreshing as it has been very hot here. Well over 30 degrees each day. Today we went to a little petting zoo that is in a fairly large park with paths and a playground and a man-made pond complete with a fountain in the middle and a black swan. Mikah was very impressed to see a black swan. Aidan got sick on the way home of course and lost his picnic lunch by the side of the road (thankfully not in the van we are borrowing.) Unfortunately this van has no airconditioning and only the front two windows open. So we're starting to prepare ourselves for Indonesia already...
All in all things are going quite well. We're still jet lagging a bit and having a bit of fun adjusting to the time change. Hugo and I are having a bit of a hard time falling asleep at a reasonable hour. We'll get there though...

Glad to hear you have arrived and enjoying your first days in Holland. I'm sure it's a relief to have all that packing done! I just caught up on your blog after our return from Ontario. I felt out of touch with you guys. Thanks for the great gift..it feels luxurious. Just have to get used to the sulphur smell again. (-: The kids are having fun on their treasure hunt around the house finding things you left behind..including Marc's beloved saw. I hope he isn't missing it too much. Hey, we now have a boy's toy in our house. Faith loves Mikah's pink bathrobe! I'll email soon. Enjoy your well deserved vacation. Love Pearl and the gang. Miss you!

Holland must be a fun place to visit ....and when you get over your jetlag it should be even better! And once you're all used to Holland, its time and ways, then you'll be heading off to Indonesia. Isn't that the way life is? :-) Enjoy Holland ...."talk" soon again!

Hi Hugo and Erica and kids!
Good to be able to read whats going on in your blog, and saves you sending a note to everyone as there would be no end trying to contact everybody. Yes, guess you are probabaly caught up with sleep now, ready for the next leg of your journey. Well, we had a really great week at Monck with Karen and Iris and later with Brandi and Henry and Hannah and M&M and kids. Henry got his boat going - fast! I caught a 3 lb rainbow and some kokanee, James a 2lb one and Morris also a smaller rain bow. It was hot - 40 C!!!!!Today too, and now there's a thunderstorm. Marsh was home, really good two days with her. So tomorrow we're off to the Shuswap area, Silver Beach Park. We think of you lots and pray for you all the time. Say hello to the Feunekeses! God bless you all. Love yas! dad and mom
